A sculpture among the rocks
Architect Nicholas Oslington explains that the steep coastal rock and the distinctive opening between the knolls set the terms for the shape of the cabin. No compromises were made and the terrain was left untouched; the outer limits of the cabin were settled long before it was drawn.
The choice of materials — extensive use of copper, exclusive glazing solutions and untreated timber — underpins the high level of ambition. It also secures a long service life and a lasting, handsome appearance.
Sørvindu supplied the doors and windows. The main products are ultra-slimline sliding doors that disappear into the external wall, together with equivalent products with an open corner for a maximal, uninterrupted view.
Through this combination and these deliberate product choices, the architect shows a sublime ability to unite design and function.
