Folding doors: when the whole facade has to open
Furøya, Lillesand · Reynaers CF 68, folded fully aside
A folding door is the answer when you want to open a large part of the facade and make a direct connection between inside and out.
At Sørvindu we use Reynaers CF 68 and Schüco AS FD 90.HI among others.
CF 68 is a simple, well-proven system, a good fit where you want large openings without the very highest demands on insulation and panel sizes. This door usually has 135 mm between the panes.
Schüco AS FD 90.HI is a heavier, highly insulated system with a 90 mm construction depth. It can be supplied with leaves up to 1.5 metres wide and 3.5 metres high, and reaches Uw values down towards about 0.8 W/m²K. That makes it particularly relevant for large, well-funded facades and for projects with high demands on energy and comfort. This door often has only 90 mm between the panes, which makes it the market leader in slim design as folding doors go.
What the two have in common is the ability to fold a large part of the glass facade aside. The difference lies chiefly in dimensions, insulation, how technically demanding the project is, and how little profile is to be seen between the panes.
The result is the largest opening you can get, plenty of daylight, and a solution that can be fitted to both the architecture and the way the house is used.
