Built for the weather on one of North Zealand’s most exposed sites
On one of the most weather-exposed sites north of Copenhagen, directly exposed to the Øresund and the west coast of Sweden, this exclusive beach villa is shaped with a deep understanding of the particular climatic challenges and qualities of the place.
The architecture is developed as a series of terraced volumes and sheltered outdoor rooms, creating good places to be in changing weather. Through deliberate work on the form and orientation of the building, a rare balance is struck between exposure to the sea and protection from wind and weather, so that the outdoor areas can be used through much of the year.
Our delivery has been a central part of that strategy. On the sea side the house has Vitrocsa sliding doors 3.5 metres from floor to ceiling, giving an almost seamless connection between interior and landscape. Despite the extreme dimensions, the system withstands wind loads equivalent to 160 km/h, while the vertical sightlines are reduced to only 25 mm between the panes.
